A Beautiful Couple

Such fun reading about the wedding of Kate and Will. She is such a beautiful bride and he is a handsome groom. I enjoyed looking at pictures of the female guests in their wonderful hats. And the little girl on the balcony, hands tight over her ears, and face scrunchled during the first public kiss. Congratulations Kate and Will, and best wishes for a wonderful lifetime together!

Sometimes It's Good to Work Alone

Because of my coworker's fractured arm, I have been working many hours with the same people. After numerous hours together, small irritations grow into huge aggravations. So today, I worked solo 'til early afternoon. The store was steadily busy, but only once did customers come in at the same time. I enjoyed working by myself, and the folks in the design room went out of their way to help, even offering to give me a break. I work a few hours tomorrow for a coworker, and then I am off to the Royal Wedding Reception. On Saturday, I am attending a hapkido party.

A Visit from the President and First Lady

Today the President and First Lady are visiting my son's place of work. Very exciting. I got up early to open the store at 7am. I recognize that I get extremely irritable when I am tired. Figure it was a good thing to keep quiet today, altho I did mention to a manager that my colleagues should perform tasks in the order that they need to be done, ie. finish Professional Admin Day work before Mother's Day tasks.

A bad fall

One of my colleagues fell in the parking lot near our store and fractured her arm and dislocated her shoulder. We're not sure what caused the accident. We have been pitching in to cover her hours. It is a busy time at the flower shop. Professional Administrative Assistant Day is tomorrow and Mother's Day coming up too. Someone told me that I looked like I was asleep, so decided to take a very long nap when I got home.

This is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it.

Such a happy day. Off to church to sing Alleluia! And then to work to help people choose plants, arrangements and bouquets. I was able to leave a half hour early so that I could get to my sister's house. My daughter and I were partners and ran an amazing race. We had to move cotton balls to a ball using a straw, recite the pledge of allegiance, and run an obstacle course. I won an "egg plant"--a marigold. Then home to dye Easter eggs. I got out the uncooked eggs first, so now we have some beautiful colored fresh eggs and some vibrant hard boiled eggs.

Happy Easter

I will begin the day tomorrow by attending Mass at the hospital chapel, and then I am off to work for a few hours. After work, I plan to drive to my sister's house to spend some time with my family. A day of delicious food, laughing and fellowship with my parents, nieces and nephews, brother, sister and brother in law and my husband and children. "This is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it."

The Triduum

Lent ended with the Mass of the Lord's Supper last evening. Today I am attending Good Friday Services and will attend church to celebrate Easter on Sunday. My Jewish friends began the celebration of Pesach this week. I find the mix of softball games, shopping, martial arts, work and the various church services strange. Even at work, we have to be cognizant that some businesses might be closed today, Good Friday. It was suggested that I celebrate Easter by enjoying some delicious Godiva chocolate. What a wonderful idea!

Race for the Cure

My oldest daughter is running in the Race for the Cure. Such a good cause. Her grandmother had breast cancer, and her friend's mom. I talked to a woman today who was sending flowers to the hospital to a friend who is having a double masectomy. The woman said that she takes care of her family, but not herself. I suggested she make an appt. for a mammo. I did and will go on Friday.

New Landscaping

New Landscaping

My Online Friend is "Thinking"

I am so sorry but I have had two horrible days this week, April 12, which is my wedding anniversary, and yesterday April 14th. My anniversary day was a typical day--work, miss the AATA (bus), stand because the riders wouldn't move to the back, clean house, make dinner, do laundry and help w/ terms. This is what saying "I do" means for me. We are going out tonight, so perhaps the anniversary will be redeemed after all. And yesterday, was just as bad. I am so irritated with an online friend who is AWOL for a few days because friend wants to think. Makes me wonder if I want to recommence writing when the friend decides to come back online. We got to my daughter's softball game with a minute to go in the first game, so got to see her play for that length of time. The head of the lawn crew called and wanted to know when we could pay him--"That is is customary to pay when the work is complete." Well, sheesh, we offered to pay up front. We had a game to go to. He could have collected the check any of the numerous times, my husband stopped by. And the sidewalk is a sea of slippery mud, there is no color in the lawn, the landscaping is not what I envisioned. Obviously, I do not do well with change and have a new work schedule, house painting, and new deck yet to go.

Job Hunting

My 16 year old daughter is job hunting, to have some spending money of her own. She has applied at the Dairy Queen and is completing an application for Bob Evans. She is following in the footsteps of her brothers and sisters who found jobs when they were 16, and have been working ever since.

Tomorrow in the early am, the landscapers come! How happy I will be to have the arborvitae removed from in front of the picture window. Our house looks unkempt and hidden, and the living room is dark.

I went to the library today to discover that it is closed for maintenance. The floor tiles have been heaving up. Fortunately there are 4 other libraries in the city.

Landscaping

The arborvitae in front of the window will be removed, the flower bed raised and rhododendron will be planted. The flower and tree beds will be defined with rock native to our state. We still have to replace the back deck step and front concrete step.

Spring House and Yard Work

Today the tree trimming company came and trimmed the six towering silvermaples in our yard. In the summer the trees shade the house and deck, and make our yard a cool oasis. The trimmers removed the branches overhanging the house, cut off some of the lower limbs and opened the leaves to the sun. Tomorrow a paint company is coming to give us an estimate on painting the old aluminum siding. And in a few days, a landscaping company will remove the arborvitae from in front of the house, build up the flower beds and yard with fresh top soil and plant pachysandra, rhododendron and periwinkle. The landscapers will define the flower and tree beds with rocks native to the state. The will remove a rose of sharon bush. We are still deciding about replacing the 20 year old deck.

New session at the rec center

I have registered for a new dance class at the rec center. It begins today, but I will not be able to attend as my daughter has an appointment with a TMJ specialist. So I will have to wait 'til next week to see what it's about. A fine relaxing day. I headed off to the bank, made some veggie soup, tried to take a picture of the furry bushy tailed critter eating the birdseed. My camera doesn't have the ability to take close ups--they look blurry. We will head off to the doctor in a few minutes, then maybe to the store to return a shirt that doesn't fit quite right, and then zumba dance with Christina de Argentina. Also Tiger baseball opening day at Comerica. Go Tigers!

An invitation

Yesterday I was invited to The Royal Wedding Reception on April 29th. So today I had to peruse various appropriate dressy dresses to wear to the event. I found dresses in various colors--lavender scarlet and black, finally deciding on the black, because it is simple and elegant and will look stunning with heeled black sandals. I am looking forward to the event--fine fellowship, good food and a glass of wine.
